How To Complete A 401(K) Rollover With Capitalize
Overview
This article outlines the full process for completeing your 401(k) rollover through Capitalize. You will receive a secure email to begin, confirm your account information, authorize the rollover, and connect your current retirement account provider. Please follow each step carefully to ensure a smooth transfer into your Altruist account.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Receive the welcome email and click “Get Started.”
You’ll receive an email from Capitalize with a secure link to begin your rollover. It will look like this:
Click the Get Started button to launch the process. This link is valid for 48 hours. If it expires, contact help@advisor.com to request a new one.
Step 2: Verify your phone number
Capitalize will prompt you to verify your identity using your phone number.
Enter the verification code sent to your mobile device to continue.
Step 3: Confirm your details
Your personal and retirement account information will be automatically populated.
Review the information carefully and confirm everything is correct before proceeding. You will be able to make edits to the information if needed.
Step 4: Schedule an appointment (if prompted)
Depending on your custodian, Capitalize may request that you schedule a short appointment to verify details or complete the transfer.
If prompted, use the built-in scheduler to select a convenient time.
Step 5: Digitally sign the rollover Authorization Form
You’ll be asked to sign a digital Authorization Form that permits Capitalize to initiate the rollover on your behalf.
Your signature is required to move forward.
Step 6: Connect your retirement account by entering your login credentials
Finally, log in to your existing retirement provider (such as Principal) using your online credentials.
This allows Capitalize to securely access your account and complete the rollover setup.
