EncoreEstate Planning FAQs
Is this plan legally valid in my state?
Yes. All documents created through Encore are reviewed by licensed estate planning attorneys and are legally valid in all 50 states. Your documents are customized to comply with your specific state’s laws.
Do I need a lawyer if I use EncoreEstate Planning?
Not necessarily. Encore’s platform is attorney-backed, meaning licensed estate planning attorneys review every plan before it’s finalized. That said, if you have a complex estate, such as multi-state property, contentious beneficiary issues, or high-value trusts, you may want to consult a separate estate attorney for additional legal advice.
What documents are included?
Through AWM, you will receive the Will-Based Estate Plan, which includes:
- Will(s)
- Financial Power(s) of Attorney
- Advance Health Care Directive(s)/Power(s) of Attorney for Health Care
- HIPAA Release(s)
- Matching documents for your spouse or partner, if applicable

Can I make changes to my plan later?
Yes. If your life circumstances change, marriage, divorce, new children, changes in assets - you can make updates to your plan. Minor edits are included, and for more substantial updates (like new executor appointments or beneficiary changes), Encore offers easy ways to revise your documents.
What happens if I move to another state?
Your documents are designed to be valid nationwide. However, we recommend letting your AWM advisor know if you move to another state so we can confirm if any minor updates are needed to reflect new state-specific guidelines.
Is this plan enough for someone with significant assets?
The Will-Based Estate Plan is ideal for:
- Individuals and couples with straightforward financial lives
- Those without a need for complex trust structures
- Families looking to cover the most essential documents with attorney oversight
If you have more advanced needs (like multi-generational tax planning or irrevocable trusts), your AWM advisor can advise you on other options outside of our current offering.
How are my documents stored?
Once finalized, your documents will be available for secure download via Encore’s platform. We recommend saving them in both digital and printed formats and sharing a copy with your advisor and trusted family members.
Encore uses modern encryption and secure access protocols to keep your personal information protected. More on Encore’s data security here.
Can my spouse or partner be included?
Yes. If you’re married or in a domestic partnership, you will both receive a full set of documents as part of the same plan. There is no additional cost for joint or married plans.
How do I get started?
