You can add or update your beneficiaries in the Altruist portal.
What's a beneficiary?
A beneficiary is a person who will inherit your investment account in the event of your passing. In Altruist, you have the option to add up to 99 beneficiaries for most types of accounts.

You can determine if you'd like your assets distributed "Per Capita" or "Per Stirpes" as well as add Contingents.
Per Capita - if your primary beneficiary dies before you (the account owner), the assets will be distributed among other designated primary beneficiaries and/or contingents.
Per Stirpes - if your primary beneficiary dies before you (the account owner), the assets will be distributed to their own descendants.
Primary Beneficiaries vs Contingents
A primary beneficiary or primary beneficiaries are the designated individuals or parties that will receive your assets, in the allocation that you decide. In Altruist, you must designate a percentage of your assets to the primary beneficiaries that, in total, adds up to 100%.
Contingents are the individuals and/or parties that will receive the remainder of the assets, should your primary beneficiaries not be alive at the time of your death.
